On December 30th, 2006, Book Oasis closed its doors for the last time. The bookshop that served the City of Livermore, California, and the world at large, is, sadly, no more. The reasons for the closure are varied: rising costs, limited access due to nearby construction, greater competition from chain stores and the Internet, or simply a combination of all. Book Oasis regrets the necessity, and has a one piece of good news. In the same location by mid-summer, there will be a new store in the same location: The Firehouse Bistro & Bookstore. It will sell used books, new books, and have a tasty menu of homemade delicacies. Also all Book Oasis customer credit accounts will be honored at the Firehouse!
