10/13/2005: "Timely Arrivals"
Good news everyone! I spoke to a construction worker and he told me that the first installment of the sidewalk will be in place next week! Ah, to have a steady walk to the front door! Now, whether all of the sidewalk will be finished in time for the downtown Trick-or-Treating, that's another story. The construction workers do seem to be moving at a fast clip, though, which is nice to see.
Meanwhile, new stock to the store continues apace! Last week, I closed the deal on four boxes of Role-Playing Game books: Everything from Dungeons & Dragons books to texts on Vampire - The Masquerade! The entire top shelf of the Games section is practically sagging under the weight of them all. But, if you're intersted, you'd better hurry in. The books are going fast to our online customers.
We are also the recipient of a collector's box of Gor books. The fantasy series which was a big hit in the 1970's - 1980's is largely out of print now. We have several book with the famous cover art of Boris Vallejo.
Other New Arrivals: a good collection of horse books; so many, in fact, that we've made a new separator for the Animals section for them.
Cookbooks - many new titles, including many regional ones, such as "A Pinch of Salt", produced by the Hayward Women's Club of 1963. Or, who could forget, "Chinese Recipes From Hawaii", 1966.
We have also secured some real oddballs, many of them signed. Chief in these ranks is "The 14-karat Trailer" by Myron Zobel, signed and inscribed. It's the zany story of a man who wanted the ultimate in a trailer for his travels, and ended up with one so elaborate it came with its own houseboy!
I hope to see you all soon.
